Cookie & Storage Policy

• Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently.
• Local storage is a browser feature that allows websites to store data on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage data is not sent to the server with every request.
• Session storage works like local storage, but your browser clears it when you close the tab.
• IndexedDB is a browser database used for storing larger amounts of structured data locally, such as offline drafts.

Greyn mainly uses your browser's local storage rather than cookies. Storage that is strictly necessary or that remembers your preferences is always on. Statistics and session replays run only if you agree to them. Here is what we store:

These are necessary to provide the platform, cannot be disabled and need no consent:

• Authentication session — Supabase stores your login session in local storage to keep you signed in
• Purpose: Maintain your login session securely
• Retention: Until you log out or the session expires
• Cookie choice (greyn_cookie_consent, local storage) — Remembers your choice for statistics and session replays, so we do not ask again on every page; kept 180 days, after which we ask again

When something goes wrong in the web app — a page crashes, or a payment or order step fails — the app sends a report of that error to Greyn, so we can find and fix failures you would otherwise run into without us knowing. Detecting these failures is part of providing the service you use, so error reporting needs no consent.

• What is sent, only when an error occurs — The error message and technical trace; the page address without anything after “?” or “#”; your browser, operating system and device type; the interface language and app version; random identifiers for the device, session and tab, which exist only in the page's memory; whether a Greyn administrator was viewing the account for support; and, if you are signed in, your user ID (a random code, not your name or email address)
• Never sent — Pageviews, clicks, form contents, session replays, or your name, email address, phone number or company. A page without an error sends nothing, and your IP address is not kept.
• Processor — PostHog, Inc. processes the reports on our behalf under a data processing agreement and stores them in its EU region (Frankfurt, Germany). Our Privacy Policy explains how long reports are kept and which safeguards apply to access from outside the EU.
• Access to your device — The reporting tool keeps its state in the page's memory. While it loads, it briefly writes, reads back and removes a test entry in local storage (__mplssupport__), reads and removes a debugging flag (ph_debug), reads its opt-out entry in local storage and in cookies, reads one session storage entry and removes another. Each time an error is sent, it reads the opt-out entry and one session storage entry again. When you sign out, it removes the opt-out entry and three leftover entries. It also reads Greyn's own entries for your language and for an administrator's support session.
• Stored on your device — Nothing. Error reporting never writes a cookie and leaves no entry behind.

These remember your preferences to improve your experience:

• Theme preference — Your light/dark mode choice
• Language preference — Your selected language (en, nl, or fr)
• Language cookie (greyn_locale, first-party) — Remembers your language for links without a language prefix; kept for 1 year
• Sidebar state — Whether the navigation sidebar is collapsed or expanded
• Retention: Persistent until you clear browser data

If you use Greyn as a Progressive Web App, additional data may be stored for offline functionality:

• Listing drafts — Unsaved listing drafts for offline editing
• Message drafts — Unsaved message drafts
• Cart data — Your shopping cart for offline access
• Retention: Until you submit or delete the drafts

If you agree in the cookie banner, we use PostHog for two separate purposes. Each has its own switch, both are off until you turn them on, and the platform works fully whatever you choose. Your choice applies to all of greyn.market, including your account area. It does not affect error reporting.

Statistics

Pages you view and the buttons, links and forms you use, so we can see where visitors go and where they get stuck. Text on the page and values you type are not collected. If you are signed in, statistics are linked to your user ID.

Session replays

A replay of how you move through the platform, from the next page you load after agreeing. All text and everything you type is masked, and two-factor authentication setup, recovery codes, conversations and their attachments are never included. Images that are not blocked, such as listing photos, are visible in replays. If you are signed in, replays are linked to your user ID. PostHog keeps replays for 30 days.

Stored on your device

• For either purpose: ph_<project key>_posthog in local storage, and ph_<project key>_posthog, ph_<project key>_window_id, ph_<project key>_primary_window_exists and ph_<project key>_session_registered_properties in session storage. Your browser clears session storage when you close the tab. The local storage entry is removed once neither purpose is granted, and your choice lapses after 180 days. To check that local storage works before using it, Greyn briefly writes greyn_storage_probe and removes it at once.
• For session replays only: ph_replay_pending_buffer_… in session storage, which holds replay data until it is sent.
• Recipient — PostHog, Inc., as our processor, in its EU region (Frankfurt, Germany). Neither purpose uses cookies.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through Cookie settings: in the footer of every page, in your account menu, and under Settings → Data & Privacy. Withdrawal takes effect immediately.

Some third-party services we use may set their own cookies:

• Cloudflare — May set a __cf_bm cookie for bot protection (essential, expires after 30 minutes)
• Google Maps — May set cookies when the map view is loaded for location services
• Stripe — May set cookies during the payment process for security

You can manage your choices and the data stored on your device at any time:

• Change or withdraw your choice for statistics and session replays through Cookie settings
• Clear all site data through your browser's privacy settings
• View and delete specific local storage entries through browser developer tools
• Block or delete cookies through your browser's cookie settings

Note: Clearing essential storage will log you out and reset your preferences.
